Canton Economic Development Vision / Mission:
Canton's EDC will improve the business environment and the overall economic opportunity for Canton through target business attraction, real estate development, community promotion, collaborative partnerships, and other appropriate economic development initiatives.
CEDC Regular meetings held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the City Council Room in City Hall, 290 E. Tyler, Canton, Texas. Facility is Wheelchair Accessible.
Canton Economic Development Corporation is currently taking applications for directors. Applicants must live within a five-mile radius of the Van Zandt County Courthouse. The Canton Economic Development Board of Director is a volunteer position appointed by Canton City Council. Directors shall serve at the pleasure of the City Council for a term of two (2) years with a maximum of three (3) consecutive terms (total of 6 years) and meets at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month at City Hall. The Board sets the policy and work plans for the CEDC. The Board has the responsibility of employing staff members and recommending all projects, board appointments and budgets to City Council for final approval. CEDC works to recruit new development while retaining existing businesses for job creation and enhancement of quality of life for our citizens.
